UPDATED 05/11/09
The Union representing NYC’s Best, FDNY EMS Lieutenants and Captains will fight all budgetary cuts to protect our members and the public we serve.
This union, in partnership with our parent organization, DC37, will utilize all resources necessary to stop service reductions proposed by EMS management as we believe them to be dangerous to the public we serve.
We started a campaign titled, “EMS Cuts Cost Lives, Could it Cost Yours?”
We plan to use this campaign to educate policy makers and the public on how our system is going to be affected and how it could affect them.
A union made button is being distributed to all EMS locations to members of all titles, wear it with pride.
We will fight all cuts in service made by EMS management that reduces ambulances and supervision in the field and jeopardizes lives and safety.
We will not allow EMS management to supplement these cuts by adding more private hospital ambulances to the system that are profit based.
We will not allow EMS management to further privatize our EMS system when it has been shown that our ambulances bring substantial revenue to the Department and supports City Hospitals when private hospital based “For Profit Ambulances” steer patients back to their home hospitals.
We will not allow EMS management to secretly remove ambulances from communities without proper notification.
As career EMS professionals we must fight poor management decisions made by EMS Management that put the city in danger. We will be asking each one of you to assist in this initiative in the coming weeks.
