The National Emergency Medical Services Memorial Foundation (NEMSMF) was established on July 6th, 2007. It is an incorporated 501(C3) charitable organization. The sole purpose of this foundation is, as its name implies, to design, build and maintain a permanent EMS memorial in Washington D.C. or its proximity. NEMSMF was spearheaded by dedicated EMS providers from Boston, New York, Pittsburgh, Delaware, Cleveland & Detroit. Each of these locations could provide a suitable memorial and would be proud to do so. It was understood by all however, that the prestige of the Nation’s capital make it the most appropriate home for the National Memorial. Since its inception, the Foundation has grown exponentially and now enjoys personal and corporate support from coast to coast.

While public safety officers from law enforcement and the fire service have been recognized for their sacrifice with national memorials, the men and women of EMS have gone without recognition for too long. It is our mandate to finally give these silent heroes a fitting memorial and their loved ones, co-workers, and counterpart’s, a permanent place to remember those we have lost, “that others might live”.

 Fellow Members,

  In the many years I have been a part of the EMS family I’ve witnessed many hardships and tragedies occur to some of our members. The amount of times fellow members step up to help each other with 10-13 parties and take collections to assist our brothers and sisters in their time of need is immeasurable. I have also noticed at many events and or functions organizations such as the Honor Emergency Fund and the Family Assistance Unit provide us with support needed to assist our members.

  That is why the Local will donate and I urge our all members to donate and or support these organizations that exist solely to help all of us in our time of need. It is important we show our appreciation and maintain support for them. Thank you.
